Lot Essay

Boucher attracted the recognition of the Paris Academy with the entry of the present model in the Salon of 1886. Entitled Au but! or To the Goal!, the group won a first class medal as well as critical acclaim. The next year the State commissioned a bronze enlargement for the Luxembourg Gardens.
