A WATERCOLOR AND INK DECORATED BUCHERZEICHEN
Andreas Kolb (1749-1811), Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania, dated 1797
The rectangular heart with green hatch-striped and red polka dot decorated border inscribed, "This New Testament belongs to Elizabeth Scheimer...25th day March...1797, in Upper Milford Township, Northampton" and issuing stylized brown leaves with peach and red flowers and buds, all above two brown buds and enclosed in a decorated rope-twist banded border of alternating yellow and taupe, with red corner blocks

Other drawings attributed to Kolb include a birth record centered by a similar distinctive, tall heart (FLP 723); a bookplate for Sara Rossenberger, also in the collection of the Free Library of Pennsylvania; and a heart-centered draing (FLP 620).
