The inverted bell-top case with gilt bracket feet and carrying handle, the door with circular brass bezel enclosing the signed white enamel dial with arabic minute numerals and roman chapters, opening to reveal strike/slient lever and regulation disc, the movement with verge escapement, rise and fail to the spring suspended pendulum with locking block pivoted on backplate engraved with foliate scrolls, urn and signature, striking the hour on bell, signed A & I Thwaites 532 on front plate, signed Thwaites on dial bracket for rise and fall, c. 1770 -- 18in. (45.5 cm.) high
