THE FIRST HAMBURG, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, MAKER'S MARK CT; THE SECOND FRANKFURT, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, MAKER'S MARK OF WILHELM CONRAD HESSENBERG
The first of tapering oblong form on four ball feet, the shoulder chased with acanthus draped palmettes on a matted ground, with everted scalloped rim, the domed cover with wood baluster finial, the ebonized loop handle with flowerhead socket, the scroll spout terminating in a bird head, marked under base--6 5/8in. (16.8cm.) high; the other of inverted pear-shaped form on a spreading circular foot, the rim with a band of oval decoration, the body flat-chased with a band of foliate scrolls and stylized flowerheads and with scroll spout, the domed cover with bud finial, the wood handle missing, marked under base--5in.
