Lot Essay

The style of the rocaille decoration, the branches and the everted sockets on these sconces is virtually identical to that found on the Abercorn chandelier of the same date, also by Garrard, sold in these Rooms October 30, 1990, lot 349, thus suggesting the same modeller.
