A PAIR OF SILVER CHESTNUT VASES AND COVERS, bearing spurious marks for London, 1784, each on four hairy cloven feet to the square base with short spreading circular partly pierced stem, the lower part of the vase flat chased with radiating palmettes below pierced bands of lozenges and trelliswork, the upper part applied front and back with oval vacant cartouche centered by applied floral swag, with two partly reeded upcurved handles with Bacchic mask join, the molded raised, partly pierced cover with waisted stem topped by acorn finial--15in.
