The wood cases painted in black pigment with a design of bamboo, one side inscribed with the characters of a Chinese poem above the painting, the poem about bamboo by moonlight and Chang E, goddess of the moon, covered overall with a thin layer of clear lacquer, interior cases roiro, the risers clear-lacquered bamboo, dated hinoe tora (?1866)
