A LACQUER AND SILVER SMOKING SET

Composed of a rectangular lacquer case fitted with a u-shaped silver handle which holds, in two fitted slots in the top tier, a silver brazier and covered tobacco container, each engraved with foliage, and with two lower rectangular drawers, the case fitted on each of the three sides with three fan-shaped glass panels which are overlaid with gilded copper plants of three seasons which are connected to stems and trunks made of gold and silver lacquer on the outer walls surrounding them, each of these walls also lacquered in gold hiramaki-e with paulownia medallions, all on a nashiji ground repeated on the interior surfaces; the outer edges and apron roiro and gold hiramaki-e leaf scroll and the faces of the drawers gold and silver lacquer with narcissus, the flower of the fourth season, the drawer pulls gilt-metal in the shape of paulownia medallions; the upper edge of the frame mounted in silver, the front edges and edges surrounding the glass panels fundame
