CLUB BINDERY. [HOE, ROBERT, collection.]. One hundred and seventy-six Historic and Artistic Book-Bindings dating from the Fifteenth Century to the Present Time. New York: Dodd, Mead 1895. 2 vols., large 4to, 358 x 287 x 37mm. (14 1/8 x 11 5/16 x 1 1/2in.), dark green levant morocco, covers with triple gilt fillet border enclosing an inner triple gilt fillet panel with flower tool corner ornaments, spines in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt lettered in two compartments, a panel of flower tools in the rest; board edges with double gilt fillet, turn-ins gilt, light yellow marbled endpapers, g.e., stamp-signed by the bindery on upper turn-in of vol. I and dated 1903, a little minor wear to extremities. LIMITED EDITION, one of 200 copies all on Imperial Japanese paper, title-pages printed in red and black full-page plates comprising etchings by F. Raubicheck, Lithographs by Prang & Co. and Julius Bien & Co. and artotypes [i.e., collotypes] by Edward Bierstadt, a few plates in color.
