AN UNUSUAL CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL BRUSHPOT ON STAND
First Half 17th Century
Of tapering cylindrical form, the sides decorated with a grasshopper, dragonfly and butterflies amidst a garden scene of hydrangea, poppies and chrysanthemums growing around a blue ornamental rock, all reserved on a turquoise ground set between narrow borders of flower scroll, the base decorated with lotus scroll, raised on three shallow feet now attached to a later-added bombé, parcel-gilt bronze stand pierced with foliate scroll panels
