The brass plate of rounded diamond form is pierced and carved with a design of a tiger guarding the entrance of a cave. The details are inlaid with shakudo and gold--height 7.4cm., width 6.6cm., thickness 5mm.

Marukawa Hiroyoshi was a student of Uchikoshi Hironaga and worked at Mito in Hitachi Province. There are dated examples of his work for the years 1841 and 1842. This is one of his favorite designs and he repeated it many times.
