Dai:Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 3 sun, 1 bu (70.2cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 3.0cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 1.1cm.; carving (horimono): kaku-dome bo-hi ni tsure-hi on both sides.
Forging pattern (jihada): fine wood grain (ko-itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): komidare.
Point (boshi): small and rounded (ko-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): slender and slightly shortened (suriage); file marks (yasurime): indistinct; end (nakagojiri): rounded (kurijiri); holes (mekugi-ana): three; signature (tachimei): Kagemitsu.
Sho: Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 1 shaku, 6 sun (48.5cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 1.2cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 1.0cm.; carving (horimono): kaki-nagashi bo-hi on both sides, tiny chips in the monouchi ha.
Forging pattern (jihada): wood grain (itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): suguba with shallow notare in ko-nie and with scattered kinsuji and saka-ashi.
Point (boshi): flame-brushed tip (hakikake).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): unshortened (ubu); file marks (yasurime): takeno ha; end (nakagojiri): ha-agari kurijiri; holes (mekugi-ana): two; signature (katanamei): Noshu Seki [no] ju Kanesada saku.
Daisho handachi-koshirae comprising: mijingai-nuri saya mounted with silver handachi mounts engraved with stylized scrolling foliage, unsigned; the tsuka mounted with pairs of Iwamoto Konkan style gold daisho menuki in the form of lobsters and fuchi-kashira en suite to the saya fittings; a pair of Hiragiya school iron daisho tsuba pierced and molded with scholars and attendants with flowering plum and cranes, unsigned, late 17th century.-- Length of koshirae 98.2cm. and 69.9cm.;length of tsuka 24.1cm. and 17.5cm.; tsuba height 7.7cm. and 7.6cm., width 7.2cm. and 6.8cm., thickness 8mm. and 8mm. -- chips and cracks to the saya, slight rust spots to the blades.
