EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1660), SIGNED TAMBA [NO] KAMI YOSHIMICHI
Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and ikubi-kissaki; length (nagasa): 1 shaku, 6 sun, 5 bu (50cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 0.9cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 1.9cm.; carving (horimono): outside: Bishamon-ten standing on a demon; inside: lotus and bonji.
Forging pattern (jihada): fine 'pear-skin' pattern (nashiji).
Tempering pattern (hamon): extremely wide sudare-ba extending to the shinogi-ji and dipping to a yaki-dashi to make room for the carving (horimono).
Point (boshi): small and rounded (ko-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): tapering and unshortened (ubu); file marks (yasurime): o-suriage; end (nakagojiri): iriyamagata; holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): Tamba [no] Kami Yoshimichi.
Shirasaya.
Accompanied by a futsu kicho token certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no number, dated Showa 34 (1959).
