Each of shaped circular form, raised on three later shell and acanthus scroll feet, with elaborate applied foliate rim, the border engraved with a coat-of-arms, helm and motto, marked under bases--10 3/4in. (27.3cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Foley quartering those of Hodgetts, for Edward Thomas Foley, eldest son of Edward Foley, and grandson of Thomas, 1st Baron Foley. Born in 1791, he married in 1832 Lady Emily Graham, 4th daughter of James, 3rd Duke of Montrose. He died without issue in 1846.
