EDO/MEIJI PERIOD (19TH CENTURY)
A gold lacquer double tiered box decorated with pavilions and landscapes in takamaki-e on a nashiji ground containing: a rectangular footed tray (chip on underside), two matching copper-lined koro (incense burners), a gilt copper lined koro with lid, a small triple-tiered square kogo (incense container) containing twelve miniature glass trays for incense, a silver utensil holder, a small rectangular box, a barrel-form box with silver-lined opening to hold packets of incense, a game set in a covered box containing lacquered wood pieces and fitted with a footed tray applied with ten silver florets (bracket feet restored), a game board, two sets of incense packets in cloth covers (tatami-gami), a set of utensils and another incense packet- 8 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. (21.7 x 19.1 x 19.1 cm.), in fitted wood box inscribed gojushuko "ten kinds of incense"
