The rectangular writing box with canted corners decorated on the lid with two shaped panels of chrysanthemums with colored pink ivory and mother-of-pearl blossoms on a fundame ground, or a shrine nestled in hills overlooking a bay on a nashiji ground, both panels reserved on a silver lacquer and nashiji mokume ground continued on the sides of the box, the underside of the lid rendered in gold takamaki-e on a nashiji ground with birds, rocks and a stream, the stream and grasses echoed on the interior of the box on a matching nashiji ground, fitted with an inkstone and gilt copper mizuire cast in the form of leaves, silver mounted- 8 3/4 x 8 x 1 3/4 in. (22 x 20.4 x 4.2 cm.), some nicks and wear
