EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY)

The rectangular box with rounded corners worked in hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, mura-nashiji, cut gold and silver with a landscape of Mt. Fuji rising above a hillside shrine on a lake, the waves, fishing boats, highlighted with aogai and large pieces of cut gold, and nets continued on the sides of the box, the interior and underside rich, dense nashiji, silver mounts- 5 3/4 x 4 5/8 x 2 1/8 in. (14.7 x 11.6 x 5.6 cm.)
