A MINIATURE EARTHENWARE TEAPOT
MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), SEALED GYOKUSHU AND INSCRIBED WITH TITLE OF DECORATION SHICHIFUKUJIN HIKARU GENJI SANSUI

Of quadrangular form decorated on one side with two fan panels of country scenes, on another with an oblong panel of a shrine, on another with a chevron shaped panel of a Genji and a lady, sealed Genji, and on the last with an oblong panel of the seven household gods in a landscape, all reserved on grounds painted with phoenixes or formal patterns in cobalt blue, iron red, colored enamels and gilt, the spout painted with small boys set against a gilt 'net', the square lid painted with gilt chrysanthemum scroll and moulded with a chrysanthemum knop- 3 1/4 in. (8.2 cm.) high
