This type of katchushi tsuba was designed to be mounted on a tachi and has no hitsuana. In the Muromachi period it was remounted on a large katana.

MUROMACHI PERIOD (CIRCA 1400)
The iron plate has an open-cornered, four-lobed shape (inome kirikome mokko). The plate surface is covered with bold punch marks in a circular pattern on both sides. The hitsu-ana appears original. The plate has some slight iron bones in the edge--height 8.0cm., width 8.2cm., thickness 3.25mm.
