MOMOYAMA PERIOD (CIRCA 1550)

The round iron plate is carved in an openwork design of a double row of chrysanthemum petals within a petal-form rim--height 7.9cm., width 7.8cm., thickness 5.0mm.

Lot Essay

This elegant Kyoto tsuba (Kyo sukashi) was probably the work of the Shoami masters at the capital and ushered in the sophisticated style of the Momoyama period (1573-1600).
