EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700), SIGNED FUJII TAKASADA WITH KAO

The shibuichi plate is carved with a design of a gold dragon swimming through crashing waves. The frame is gold with a cat-scratched surface--length 9.7cm., width 1.5cm., thickness 7.25mm.

Lot Essay

Fujii Takasada, also known as Joen, was the student of Goto Renjo (1627-1708). There is another artist who signed Joen using different kanji. He was of the Fujinaka family and these two artists are often mistaken for each other.
