EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800)
The polished shibuichi plate is carved in relief with a dragonfly on churning waves and water. There are large gold dots of spray on the water. The eyes, tail and feet of the dragonfly are also in gold. The reverse is carved with rain-like file marks--length 9.6cm., width 1.5cm., thickness 4.5mm.
