AN EDO KINKO KOZUKA
EDO PERIOD, DATED MANEN KANOE SARU NAKA AKI (MID AUTUMN 1860)

The copper plate is carved with a figure of Hotei in very bold high relief. The face is almost in the round. His flywhisk is in shakudo and silver, as are his eyes and teeth. The butt of the kozuka is shakudo. The reverse has some running file marks plus the date and a circle that may contain a signature--length 9.7cm., width 1.4cm., thickness 7.75mm.
