AN ETCHU UDA YARI
MUROMACHI PERIOD (CIRCA 1470), SIGNED TOMOTSUGU SAKU
Configuration (sugata): yari; length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 6 sun, 5 bu (80.3cm.); carving (horimono): inside (ura): a coarsely jagged groove with traces of red lacquer.
Forging pattern (jihada): coarse wood grain (itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): suguba with some nie.
Point (boshi): large rounded (o-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): wide and of rectangular section; file marks (yasurime): slanted (katte-sagari); end (nakagojiri): squared (kiri-jiri), broken off through a mekugi-ana; signature (mei): Tomotsugu saku.
Shirasaya with attestation by Homma Junji.
