Chunagon (court councilor) Toshitsune was the daimyo Maeda Toshitsune (1593-1658). The second son of Maeda Toshiie, he took part in the siege of Osaka in 1615, defeating the forces of Ono Harufusa.

EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1640), SIGNED WITH THREE KIN-ZOGAN CUTTING ATTESTATIONS AND KIN-ZOGAN-MEI, KANEMAKI SAKU
Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 3 sun (69.9cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 1.3cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 0.9cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): dense wood grain (itame); Tempering pattern (hamon): suguba with extensive 'swept sands' (sunagashi) in good nie.
Point (boshi): medium rounded (chu-maru).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): slender, tapering, probably ubu and artificially patinated.; file marks (yasurime): slanted (katte-sagari); end (nakagojiri): rounded (kuri-jiri); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (mei) in gold inlay (kinzogan-mei): outside (omote): Baba Kubyoe kiru o-karigane otoshi Kato Kuroemon kiru namatsuri-do otoshi Ogawa Hachiroemon kiru futatsu-do dotanbari Kanemaki saku (Baba Kubyoe tested it with a okarigane test; Kato Kuroemon tested it on a live person; Ogawa Hachiroemon tested it on two bodies. Made by Kanemaki.); inside (ura): Ju-Chunagon Toshitsune-kyo Yoshida Okura shigeru-shi hairyo (a gift to Yoshida Okura from Lord Toshitsune).
