EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1750), SIGNED HIZEN (NO) KUNI TADAHIRO (TADAHIRO V)
Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 2 shaku, 3 sun, 3 bu (70.7cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 2.0 cm.; carving (horimono): maru-dome bo-hi on both sides.
Forging pattern (jihada): extremely fine wood grain, almost patternless (ko-itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): medium straight (chu-suguba) with extremely tiny clove and irregular patterns (choji midare) and some scattered ashi.
Point (boshi): small pointed (ko-maru) with medium kaeri.
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): elongated and tapering; file marks (yasurime): kiri-yasuri; end (nakagojiri): iri-yamagata; holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (tachimei): Hizen (no) Kuni Tadahiro.
Shirasaya with attestation by Sato Kanzan.

Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate, no. 144648. Showa 43 (1969); and a koshu tokubetsu kicho token certificate, no. 9358, Showa 51 (1976), issued by the N.B.T.H.K.
