Lot Essay

In 1947, Berko had his first one-man show at the Victoria and Albert Museum while freelancing for various popular French and American magazines. He also taught photography at the Institute of Design in Chicago from 1947-48. His work is in the New York collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as the San Francisco Museum of Art and the Center for Creative Photography at Tuscon.
