Of oval form with gadrooned everted rim and lower body, raised on four web feet, lustred in gold and painted in blue on a white ground, the underside inscribed in red with Sackler number 79.6.1 (cracked, restored chips, test drill holes to two feet)--5 3/8in. (13.8cm.) wide

Sold with thermoluminescence certificate 381r77 dated December 1985 from the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, Oxford University, stating that the sample tested was last fired between 320 and 580 years ago (1505-1665).
