AN ISTORIATO PLATE
CASTELLI, 18TH CENTURY, ATTRIBUTED TO LIBORIO GRUE

Painted on a white ground in shades of yellow, blue, green, and manganese with a pearl fisherman showing his catch to his family, the rim with putti supporting and climbing on fruited garlands within manganese and yellow line borders, the reverse inscribed in red with Sackler number 79.6.20 (tiny nicks to glaze of edge, reverse with test drill holes)--12in. (30.5cm.) diam.
