Lot Essay

Sold with thermoluminescence certificate 381r62 dated December 1985 from the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, Oxford University, stating that the sample tested was last fired less than 120 years ago (1865-1885). However, as the assumed period of manufacture is only 200 years ago, the accuracy of the test must be questioned.
