Lot Essay

This sale was originally planned for February, and a catalogue was produced, but this list was so sketchy and poorly arranged that Langford decided to postpone the sale. The new catalogue was compiled by Samuel Paterson, who listed more than 8000 volumes in the space of six weeks. The library was particularly strong in early English printing.
