Carved as the figure of Daikoku standing in Chinese dress behind a large bag of treasure under which emerges an oni holding a mallet, the figure separately carved from the bag in wood stained dark brown with applied ivory hands and face and fitted at the knees with two pegs for insertion into the bag, the bag and oni carved as one and stained to match the figure, inlaid red signature cartouche on the base- 11 1/2 in. (19.2 cm.) high, nicks and scratches, hairline age cracks
