A STAFFORDSHIRE WHITE SALTGLAZE LOZENGE-SHAPE TEAPOT AND COVER

With stepped dome cover and flattened finial, notched loop handle, the spout formed as an arm entwined with a serpent and putto mask at the join, the body moulded with rectangular panels enclosing bands of key pattern, entwined diamonds and interlaced '8's centering shells, on a conforming flaring stepped base, Jacobs Collection no. 599 (chip and related crack to rim)--5 5/8in. (14.5cm.) high
