1985 AERO CAR TRITAN A2 THREE WHEEL MOTORCYCLE
VIN No. 1T93PR30XD1079003
Engine: Rotary SP-440, 440cc, 30bhp at 5,500rpm; Gearbox: automatic V-belt; Brakes: hydraulic drums; Suspension: front, leading link, coil over shock, rear, Hydragas, trailing arms.
The Tritan A2 motorcycle was developed for Domino's Pizza as a quick, cheap and safe pizza delivery vehicle. Its amazing futuristic and aerodynamic appearance along with 70mpg fuel efficiancy and a reputed top speed of 95mph make the Aero Car a fascinating machine. Two people or a pizza oven and driver may be seated comfortably in the enclosed fibreglass monocoque.
Designed in a wind tunnel, the A2 has a very similar profile to a small jet aircraft. The "Amick Arch" linking the sides at the rear is said to give amazing stability in gusty winds and will cause the vehicle only to slide, not tip or roll if turned too sharply. Only ten Aero Cars were produced and this one was donated to the Museum in 1986 by Domino's Pizza of Ann Arbor.
