The Stutz motor-car made in Indianapolis, will always be thought of as a performance related automobile. Their many victories in the early teens as well as successes in the AAA Stock Car Championships and strong finishes at Le Mans added to their reputation.

In 1931 the famous DV-32 was introduced. This had dual inlet and exhaust valves per cylinder (hence the DV designation), hemispherical combustion chambers and double overhead camshafts. The Stutz was clearly competing for the performance minded customer, and the DV-32 was guaranteed to do 100mph and cost $5,400.

It is believed that the second owner of this car was a Mr.N.D.Baxter of Rochester, New York. Mr Baxter purchased the Stutz in 1938 and there are photos of the car as early as 1948. The car was eventually purchased by Mr Charles Knipe who donated it to the museum in 1977. It has an older restoration and there are some minor dents in the chrome and the paint is flaking in places. The old original glass has yellowed with age.
