Sydney Allard's name has been synonymous with various forms of motor sport since the mid-1930s when he dominated trials and hillclimbs with his Ford V8 specials. The basis of these was to form the new range of Allards that were introduced in 1946 with their box section rigid frame chassis and Ford V8 engines. In the beginning there were touring and competition two-seaters, touring and drophead four-seaters and in 1948 there was a two-door P.1 Saloon, the type that provided Sydney Allard with his 1952 Monte Carlo Rally win. The export market to America was their future aim and various tuned V8 powered engine options were avaliable ranging from the 3.6-litre Ford or 3.9-Mercury to the fearsome 5.4-Cadillac. Many cars were exported without engines and transmission, enabling the owners to install their own preference and state of tune units.
Smooth and powerful, broad and rugged, and expensive with a cost of over $5,300 new, the 1954 Allard K3 is truly a remarkable car; undoubtedly the handsomest car the company had yet built, arguably the handsomest it ever would. Only 61 were built, with 53 of these being sold in the United States.
This K3 has very low mileage, and is in original condition, being eligible for racing and vintage tours. Its alloy body is believed to retain its original paint which is in excellent condition. The black interior is mostly original; some of the leather has been replaced to original standard. It has the original top which is like new and still in wraps, as well as its original Cadillac V8 331ci engine. This car is particularly extraordinary as it comes complete with all relevant paperwork and documentation. This includes the original bill of sale, service receipts, and correspondence with the Allard company. The K3 recently took part in the 1993 California Mille - being one of the faster cars in the event.
