The history of the MGB is relatively uncomplicated. Coming in 1962 as a successor to the MGA 1600 Mk II, it quickly established a niche for itself, becoming perhaps the most successful single MG model ever. Alterations to the car during its long production run were relatively minor, and mainly confined to trim. The GT, the name used to market the fixed head coupe version, was even more pleasing to the eye than the open car, and with its hatchback was immediately popular with the sporting motorist with a young family.

This GT appears to be a very fine example and was restored by a previous owner who took the car back to the bare metal and kept it off the road for about four years. It seems very sound and is finished to original specifications in all respects. It has a sunroof, original cloth seats and Pye radio cassette player. The current owner has some recent service history on the vehicle and by the time of the auction it will have a new MoT certificate.
