From a design by Piranesi, of vase form, on spreading circular foot with leaf moldings and a reeded narrow stem, the part-fluted body with a band of stylized foliate scrolls below a border of acanthus and bellflower, the circular domed cover with bands of reeding and grapevines and surmounted by a bud finial, the inner collar later engraved with an inscription, marked on base, cover and finial--6 3/4 in. (17.2 cm.) high
