A CYPRIOT BLACK SERPENTINE CYLINDER SEAL
CIRCA 1400-1200 B.C.
Engraved with two reversed antelope on either side of a tree, with a voluted structure as the terminal, 23 x 10 mm, together with FOUR LEVANTINE CYLINDER SEALS, CIRCA 1600-1350 B.C., one of brown serpentine engraved with two standing figures, one in ascending position holding a scepter, with two forms resembling the hm sign for "majesty", one reversed, and two vertical parallel lines as the terminal, 17 x 7 mm, one of gray chert with three vertical registers engraved with, from left to right, the nfr sign for "beauty" below a circle, posibly the sun sign, the nfr sign below oval shape and a jackal holding a ceremonial scepter, and the nfr sign below circle, line border, 16 x 8 mm, one of hematite engraved with two figures on either side of a pole with a winged sun disc above it, with a secondary secne of three striding figures between two winged griffins above three parallel lines enclosing rows of drill holes above a kneeling figure and three striding figures, with drill holes and two scorpions in the field, 26 x 6 mm, and one of hematite engraved with a worshiper presenting an antelope to a deity brandishing a mace or dagger, with a griffin, lion, bird, stylized hand, and drill holes in the field, line border, 16 x 7 mm (5)
