EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700-1800)
The tsuba comprising: an oval iron plate pierced with a battle scene, inlaid in gold, silver, and shakudo, (circa 1725), signed Soheishi Nyudo Soten tsukuru--8.4cm. h., 5mm. th.; an oval iron plate pierced and carved with a Kumagai and Atsumori in a battle scene from the Tale of the Heike, inlaid in gold, silver, and shakudo, (circa 1725), signed Soheishi Niudo Soten tsukuru, (this could be used as the sho for the above plate) --7.8cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; an oval iron plate pierced and carved with the seven sages in a bamboo grove, inlaid in gold, copper, and silver, (circa 1775), signed Soheishi Soten tsukuru--7.5cm. h.; 4.5mm. th.; an oval iron plate pierced and carved with Chinese sages in a garden, probably the Poetry Gathering at the Orchid Pavilion, inlaid in gold, copper, and silver, (circa 1800)--7.3cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; an oval plate pierced and carved with a historical scene, inlaid in gold, copper, and shakudo, (circa 1750), inscribed Soheishi Nomura Kanenori --7.5cm. h., 5mm. th.; a large, oval nigurome plate pierced and carved with a scene from the Tale of Genji, inlaid in gold, copper, and silver, (circa 1750), inscribed Soheishi Nyudo Soten tsukuru --8.4cm. h., 4mm. th.
