THREE KINKO TSUBA
EDO/MEIJI PERIOD (CIRCA 1800-1900)
The tsuba comprising: a bowed, rectangular brass plate with a raised edge, the face inlaid with a mother shishi in a waterfall inlaid in shibuichi, shakudo, and copper with carved peony branches and a relief of silver blossoms, with two young shishi, one in shakudo with gold spots, and the other in gold (appropriated menuki), the reverse with a shakudo rock by a stream, inlaid with a spurious seal, (spotty patination), (circa 1900)--8.6cm. h., 4mm. th.; a bowed, rectangular brass plate designed with two monkeys looking at a hanya mask in a pine tree, (metal inlay and surface lacquer), the reverse with the pine tree and a stream, (circa 1900), slightly raised signature, Ichiju--9.2cm. h. 3.5mm. th.; an oval shakudo nanako plate inlaid with two shishi with rocks and a waterfall, (Yanagawa school style, circa 1800)--8.1cm. h., 4mm. th.
