TEN TSUBA OF VARIOUS TYPES
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700-1850)
The iron tsuba comprising: three mukade brass inlay plates, (circa 1750)--8.5, 7.8, 6.9cm. h; a round plate pierced with a design of a fruiting tree, (Choshu style, circa 1800)--8.4cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; an oval plate pierced and carved with Chinese-style hats, (rim cover missing), (circa 1775)--7.7cm. h., 5mm. th.; an oval plate with five chrysanthemums carved in the web, (Choshu style, circa 1775)--6.9cm. h., 5mm. th.; an oval plate formed as a bamboo branch and leaves with gold nunome details, signed Masatsune, (Busho Ito school, circa 1800)--7.7cm. h., 6mm. th.; a rounded-square plate decorated with two saddle bows and a pair of stirrups with gold nunome inlay (slight rust), (circa 1750)--7.3cm. h., 5.5mm. th.; a plate formed as two dragons (Hizen school, circa 1800)--7.2cm. h., 4.5mm. th.; a mokko plate formed as two rings and two ginko leaves (worn gold nunome), (circa 1850)--6.9cm. h., 5.5mm. th.
