TWO EDO KINKO TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1850), VARIOUSLY INSCRIBED
The two tsuba comprising: a polished, deep blue shibuichi plate decorated with two silver cranes flying over the sea with a shakudo rock with gold accents, the reverse with a silver-topped Mt. Fuji above a seashore with pines and boats, inscribed Goto Hokyo Ichijo --7.9cm. high, 6.8cm. wide, 3.5mm. thick; and an iron plate formed as a water lily leaf, the face decorated with a shakudo toad and leaf, the reverse overlaid with a three-dimensional copper snake, the hitsuana with a shakudo plug, inscribed Shozui--8cm. high, 7.6cm. wide, 4.25mm. thick (2)
