"New Edition," PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by the author on front flyleaf: "Miss Allen From Anthony Trollope with kind regards, and a hope that she will not forget her journey with him [word indecipherable] America. Nov. 6, 1875" (Trollope had just returned to London following his second round-the-world journey); tipped in at front is a portion of the envelope addressed by Trollope in which this copy was sent to Miss Allen in San Francisco.
