With rectangular crossbanded hinged top veneered à quatre faces and inlaid in bois-de-bout floral marquetry reversing to a similarly inlaid panel and opening to an interior fitted with a removeable compartment for writing utensils and a leather-lined writing panel above a similarly inlaid scalloped apron, on cabriole legs headed by foliate-cast chutes and ending in foliate sabots-27¼in. (69cm.) high, 27½in. (70cm.) wide, 17½in. (44cm.) deep

The 'C' couronée poinçon was tax mark in use between March 1745 and February 1749 on any alloy containing copper.
