Lot Essay

M. and Mme. Jacquette, the first owners of this painting were good friends of the Boudin family. L'Ami Jacquette as Boudin amicably called them lived in Fervaques for many years, a small village in Calvados along the Touques river. The present painting is one of seven works executed at Fervaques between October, 1877 and September, 1897, three of which were gifted by the Jacquette family to the Musée d'Alençon (Schmit, nos. 2257, 3082 and 3139).
