signed, numbered and stamped with the foundry mark on the base 'Degas 57/0 AA HEBRARD CIRE PERDUE'--bronze with brown patina
Height: 22 in. (56 cm.)
The original wax model was executed 1882-95 and cast in an edition of twenty-two bronze examples between 1919-21, numbered A to T, plus two casts reserved for the Degas heirs and Hébrard (alternately marked 'HER' and 'HERD'). The number 57 refers to the subject in the inventory made of the wax models in the artist's studio.
