HAMMERLESS BOXLOCK NON-EJECTOR RIFLE BY HOLLAND & HOLLAND, No. 8376, toplever, automatic safe, the action-body, toplever and furniture profusely gold-inlaid with bold foliate-tendrils on a blued and foliate-scroll engraved ground, the maker's name and serial number gold-inlaid, highly-figured replacement stock with pistolgrip, gold-inlaid pistolgrip-cap, cheekpiece and butt-plate, the barrels with matt sight-rib, open-sights, bead-foresight and gold-inlaid breech-ends

The makers have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed circa 1885 and that it was made for an important (though unknown - the page is simply marked 'R') client. From the nature of the rifle's embellishment it would seem clear that it was made for the Indian market
