A RARE RUSSIAN GOLD-MOUNTED SILVER-GILT MUSICAL SNUFF-BOX
Moscow 1818, maker's mark "KA", the portrait miniature by Thomas Day, circa 1790

Rectangular silver-gilt box with gold mounts, the cover set with an oval portrait-miniature of a gentleman in red coat called Mr Hume, surrounded by 2 chased floral initials "E", the base chased with foliage and vases, the sides with engine-turned panels, all borders engraved with stylized acanthus, both cover and base opening, the music mechanism playing two tunes -- 8.8 cm wide
