manuscript on cream paper, 237ff., each with 19ll. of black naskh, punctuation in red, gold rosettes between verses, gold, red, green and blue margins between black rules, blue outer rule, gold outer margin, illuminated marginal medallions marking the divisions of text, sura headings in gold on blue cartouches in illuminated panels, (negligible damages to folio edges, a few folios loose), opening bifolio fully illuminated in gold and polychrome, preceeding folio with illuminated title page, similar final bifolio, signed by Muhammad al-Isfahani and dated 1194, original dark brown lacquer binding painted with delicate floral sprays within gold meandering vine borders (some cracking and chips), red lacquer doublures painted with gold scrolling leafy palmette sprays within black and gold border (slight wear at outer corners)
